Today I took some time for myself to quietly take in the view at Emerald Lake while the guests were enjoying the view from a different spot. I was reflecting on my life as a tour director, and how fortunate I am to travel to places like this for a living. But like every other job this job can also have its downsides. It is great to meet some of the most amazing people from all over the world and provide them with unforgettable moments, but it often also means you create a connection with people you might never see again. Some of these people come and go, while others will always stay in your memories. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

While I was sitting by myself at the lake this afternoon I thought of a quote by Anthony Bourdain that I saw earlier this week on Instagram:
“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.”
